Kearney Trash & Recycling: The Straight Answer

Everything for 64060 in one place — including two things a lot of Kearney households are paying for and never using.

Who picks up trash in Kearney?

Redgate Disposal collects residential trash and recycling under contract with the City of Kearney. Billing and service questions — missed pickup, an extra cart, a damaged cart — go through Kearney City Hall: cityhall@kearneymo.us or (816) 628-4142, Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

What you pay — and what it includes

$20.06 per month covers weekly curbside service: one 65-gallon trash cart, one 65-gallon recycling cart, and — this is the part people miss — one pre-scheduled bulky item every single week, at no extra cost. Not once a year. Weekly. Schedule it by emailing service@redgatedisposal.com.

Extra carts run $6.20/month each. And if anyone in the household is over 65, there's a $2.00 monthly credit on the solid waste charge — ask City Hall, it isn't automatic for everyone.

When is my Kearney trash day?

Kearney runs four routes, Monday through Thursday, and your day depends on your address — recycling comes weekly, on the same day as trash. Use the street-by-street map above to find yours instantly, or check the city's address lookup map. Carts need to be at the curb by 7:00 a.m., wheels against the curb, sitting five feet clear of cars and mailboxes, and under 80 pounds. The city also asks that you bag your trash before it goes in the cart.

Holiday schedule

Kearney observes six collection holidays — New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. When one lands on a weekday, collection runs one day late. (Worth knowing: neighboring Smithville only observes three, so don't assume the whole Northland shifts together.)

Recycling & yard waste

Redgate hauls your trash. They don't clean the cart.

Your $20.06 buys pickup — not a wash. That cart gets emptied about 52 times a year and cleaned zero, which is how a Kearney bin ends up with maggots in July and a smell that greets you every time you open the garage. Bagging your trash helps; it doesn't fix what's already baked onto the bottom. We deep-clean it at your curb with 200°F water — no soap, no bleach, pet-safe — and every drop of wastewater goes back on the truck.

Why Kearney Families Choose Bin Bros KC

Kearney's a small town with big-city amenities. Your bin cleaner should work the same way — local feel, pro equipment.

New-Build Friendly

Staley Farms and Platte Valley have a lot of new bins — which means they're still the nice kind that deserve to stay nice. First professional clean locks in the factory-fresh look.

Kearney's Shared Bin Fleet

Kearney residential trash is city-provided — you get a 65-gallon cart whether you like it or not. When it smells, everyone on the block knows. We fix that quietly, curbside, while you're at work.

Open Year-Round

Our biggest Kearney-area competitor only cleans March through November. We accelerate a clean before Christmas for quarterly subscribers and pick back up in March — no 3-month smell gap.

Yes, We Clean Kearney Bins in January

Kearney sits at the cold top of the metro, and most bin-cleaning services around KC treat winter as the off-season — trucks parked from December through February. Ours isn't. We run 64060 year-round; the truck heats its own water, so the 200°F wash works the same in a January cold snap as it does in July.

Meanwhile the city hauls your trash every week of the year, and the cart itself never gets a wash from anybody. Winter is when it collects its heaviest layer — turkey trimmings, holiday hosting, a season of scraps sealed under a frozen lid. The cold hides the smell right up until the first warm week of spring. Then it doesn't.

If your bin service disappears from Thanksgiving to spring break, a quarterly plan quietly becomes three cleans a year. Ours stays four — the day after your pickup, every quarter, whatever the thermometer says.

Kearney MO Bin Cleaning FAQ

When does Bin Bros clean bins in Kearney?

The day after your Kearney residential trash pickup (which Kearney provides through the city's $20.06/month residential service). Most of 64060 runs Tuesday pickup — we clean Wednesday. A few rural addresses run Thursday; we come Friday.

Can Bin Bros clean the city-issued Kearney cart?

Yes — the city's 65-gallon cart is exactly what our truck is built for. Whether it's trash or recycling, we sanitize and deodorize both. Extra bins beyond the two city-issued are $5 each.

Do you cover Staley Farms and the newer Kearney subdivisions?

Yes. Staley Farms, Platte Valley, Claywoods, Royal Oaks, and the newer builds west of 92 Highway are all on our Kearney route. Your HOA can also get group pricing if you've got a board.

Is the cleaner safe for Kearney's outdoor pets and gardens?

Yes. Hot water + a pet-safe deodorizer with natural essential oils (no soap, no bleach, no harsh chemicals). Our truck captures all wastewater — nothing runs off into your yard, the Fishing River, or the Smithville Lake watershed.

Does Bin Bros clean Kearney bins in the winter?

Yes — 64060 stays on our route year-round, December through February included, while most KC-area bin services go seasonal and skip winter entirely. The city hauls your trash every week of the year and the cart never gets a wash from anybody; the truck heats its own water, so the 200°F clean works the same in January as in July.
