Liberty Trash & Recycling: The Straight Answer

We clean bins — we're not your hauler. But we get asked this constantly, so here's the whole picture for 64068 in one place.

Who picks up trash in Liberty?

Republic Services collects residential trash and recycling under contract with the City of Liberty. Service is billed through the city at $27.43 per month on your utility bill — you don't set up an account with Republic separately. Reach Republic at 816.254.1470; for a new or damaged cart, call Liberty Public Works at 816.439.4503.

When is my Liberty trash day?

Liberty is divided into five collection districts, Monday through Friday. Trash and recycling run on the same day. The quickest way to find yours is the street-by-street map above — tap your area for your trash day, our cleaning day, and your next four cleaning dates. You can also call Republic at 816.254.1470.

Carts must be at the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. on your day. Point the arrows on the lid toward the street and leave room around the cart — Republic's trucks use an automated arm, and a cart boxed in by cars or mailboxes gets skipped.

Your two carts (and the glass rule)

New customers get two 65-gallon wheeled carts: one for trash, one for recycling with a yellow lid. Recycling is single stream, so nothing needs sorting — just make sure items are empty, clean, and dry.

No glass in the curbside cart. Liberty handles glass separately through Ripple Glass, free of charge — look for the purple bins at the Liberty Recycling Center (400 Suddarth) and two Price Chopper locations. Food and beverage containers only; no plate glass, mirrors, or Pyrex.

Holiday schedule

Liberty observes six collection holidays — noticeably more than some neighboring cities, so don't assume the Northland runs one schedule:

New Year's Day · Memorial Day · Independence Day · Labor Day · Thanksgiving · Christmas. When one lands on a weekday, collection runs one day late for the rest of that week.

Yard waste & bulky items

Republic hauls your trash. They don't clean the cart.

Your $27.43 covers pickup — that's it. The cart gets emptied about 52 times a year and washed zero, which is how a Liberty bin ends up with maggots in July and a smell that follows you into the garage. We deep-clean it at your curb with 200°F water — no soap, no bleach, pet-safe — and we capture every drop of wastewater on the truck, so nothing reaches your lawn, your well, or the Fishing River.
